Reliving the European Parliament’s history
The Historical Archives offer a range of historical sources, articles and studies, enabling you to relive the history of European integration and discover the role played by the European Parliament in this process.
The collection includes about five million electronic records, stretching from 1952 when the Common Assembly of the European Community of Coal and Steel – the European Parliament’s predecessor – was established until recent parliamentary terms.
These documents cover the institution’s legislative, political and administrative activities. They include pictures, posters, audio records, reflecting what happened during plenary sessions, what committees were working on and how the Parliament interacted with the other European institutions. Anyone is welcome to access the documents, under EC Regulation 1049/2001. Ask for documents by writing or apply for a study visit in our premises in Luxembourg.
