Highlights
On 26 June, the Commission will present the outcome of the consultations of the EU4Health steering group that will help define annual work program for 2024.
During an ENVI Committee meeting of 27 June, Members will resume voting on the draft report on the proposal for a Regulation on Nature Restoration. It is one of the flagship proposals and a key pillar of the European Green Deal and the 2030 EU Biodiversity Strategy, that aims to restore the EU’s degraded ecosystems and build resilience and security for the EU.
During an ENVI committee meeting on 26 June, Members will consider the a draft motion for a Resolution, outlining the European Parliament's position and recommendations for the upcoming 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 28).
Following the conclusion of the 76th World Health Assembly last month, ENVI will hold an exchange of views with the Commission on the future Pandemic Accord.
ENVI Members will vote on the draft report on the Water Framework, Surface Water and Groundwater Directive on protecting water against pollution and deterioration.
On 27 June, the ENVI Committee will vote on the draft report on the revision of the Ambient Air Quality Directive.
On 26 June, ENVI will hold an exchange of views with Janez Lenarčič, Commissioner for Crisis Management to discuss the developments since the revision of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) in May 2021 and look at synergies with climate mitigation and adaptation measures.
On 15 June, ENVI discussed the draft report on the proposal for a Regulation on Type-approval of motor vehicles and engines and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles, with respect to their emissions from the tailpipe and from brake and tyre abrasion and battery durability (Euro 7).
On 15 June, ENVI held an exchange of views with the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change (ESABCC), an independent body providing the EU with scientific knowledge, expertise and advice relating to climate change, ahead of the Commission’s proposal for a 2040 climate target expected in early 2024.
