Meetings with National Parliaments

The European Parliaments' committees may directly engage in a dialogue with national parliaments at committee level. This may include meetings that bring together MPs and MEPs from corresponding committees, to discuss matters of common concern.

Interparliamentary Committee meeting

The TRAN Committee will hold an interparliamentary committee meeting on Reaching the transport objectives of Fit for 55 at national level - opportunities and challenges. The purpose of the meeting is to exchange views with Members from National Parliaments on the realities and experiences of Member States in working towards achieving the transport objectives of the Fit for 55 package.

The European Parliament Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO), in cooperation with the Legislative Dialogue Unit of the Directorate for Relations with national Parliaments, is inviting Members of national Parliaments of the EU Member States to attend an Interparliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM) to exchange views with national Parliaments on the 'Reform of the European Electoral System'.

The ING2 Special Committee will hold an Inter-parliamentary meeting (ICM) on Tuesday 21 March 2023 from 10.30 to 13.00. Based on the fruitful contacts established during INGE and ING2, the Special Committee will hold an Inter-parliamentary committee meeting (ICM) on legislative resilience, electoral laws or information manipulation campaigns with law makers from Member States that will hold legislative and/or presidential elections in 2023-2024.

On Wednesday, 1 March 2023, to celebrate International Women's Day 2022, the FEMM Committee in collaboration with the National Parliaments, organised an Inter-parliamentary Committee meeting "Gender aspects of Energy poverty".

On Thursday, 08 December 2022, the FEMM Committee held an Inter-parliamentary Committee Meeting on Gender Mainstreaming.

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) with the support of the Directorate for relations with National Parliaments organized an Inter-parliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM) on “The situation of the Rule of Law in the EU”. The meeting was scheduled on Thursday, 1 December 2022, from 14.30 to 17.30, in the European Parliament premises in Brussels.

The ING2 Special Committee will hold an Inter-parliamentary meeting on Thursday 1 December 2022 from 10.00 to 12.30 on "Legislative resilience, electoral laws and information manipulation campaigns ". Members will exchange views with National Parliaments on how to build resilient democracies and on possible responses to actions of foreign interference.

Eurojust Regulation (EU) 2018/1727 makes a provision for organization of regular annual exchanges with the president of Eurojust on the Annual programme and substantial developments regarding the activities of the agency on EU judicial cooperation with European and national parliamentarians. This was the core focus of this meeting which took place on 30th November 2022.

The European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) and the Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) will jointly organise a hybrid interparliamentary committee meeting (ICM) with National Parliaments on 28 November 2022 on “Universal Jurisdiction - improving accountability for serious international crimes”.

FISC Subcommittee

On 14 November 2022, from 16:00 to 17:30, the FISC Subcommittee will host an exchange of views with Members of the Budget Committee of the Czech national parliament on tax policies in the Commission’s work programme for the years 2022 and 2023 and the priorities of the Czech Presidency.

Discussion with the national Parliaments the implementation of the conclusions of the Conference on the Future of Europe, including by means of Treaty changes, and the role of the national Parliaments in this process.
