Welcome to the website of the SANT subcommittee!
On 14 February 2023, the European Parliament approved the creation of the public health subcommittee, made up of 30 full members and 30 substitute members.
According to its approved mandate, the subcommittee will deal with pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, the health aspects of bioterrorism, the European Medicines Agency, and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.
Setting up the Public Health Subcommittee follows on naturally from the work carried out by the Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA). I am delighted that we will have an opportunity to work again for patients across the EU. A new pharmaceutical strategy for Europe is one of our greatest challenges for the coming months. This framework should guarantee equal and permanent access to medicines, a critical element for citizens' health in the European Union.
