Welcome to the website of the FISC Committee!
Tax avoidance by multinationals costs EU taxpayers up to €190 billion each year. An astonishing figure, isn't it? Tax justice and fair tax competition are essential to protect the Single Market and promote a fair society.
Throughout its previous mandate, the European Parliament repeatedly called for EU action to combat tax avoidance. As Chair of the FISC-subcommittee, I seek to continue this work and ensure that the European Parliament promotes fair taxation at the national, EU and global level. Looking at the challenge ahead to promote a sustainable economic recovery in line with the Green Deal, I also want the Committee to contribute to a more simple, efficient and sustainable EU tax policy.
FISC was set up to assist the ECON Committee on tax-related matters and particularly the fight against tax fraud, tax evasion and tax avoidance, as well as financial transparency for taxation purposes. We will hear experts, exchange views with Ministers and national parliamentarians, organise fact-finding missions and draft recommendations.
