Exchange of views on the future WHO Pandemic Accord

Following the conclusion of the 76th World Health Assembly last month, ENVI will hold an exchange of views with the Commission on the future Pandemic Accord.
In December 2021, the WHO members decided to establish an intergovernmental negotiating body to draft and negotiate an instrument to strengthen pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. The resulting conceptual draft Pandemic Accord aims to address gaps that have been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular the development of governance and oversight mechanisms to increase trust, ensure accountability and foster transparency.
