ENVI and DEVE adopted a report on the Implementation and delivery of the SDGs

On 23 May, DEVE and ENVI Members adopted their report on the Implementation and delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with 65 votes in favour, 11 against and 5 abstentions.

In their report, the co-rapporteurs acknowledge slow progress on SDGs implementation and insist on urgent actions to step up the EU's efforts. They call on the European Commission to place the SDGs implementation high on its policy agenda and to a adopt a comprehensive strategy for achieving the 2030 Agenda without further delays.
Other points of the report include the collaboration with the Global South, the adoption of an EU financing plan for the SDGs; review of the financial architecture to close the financing gap, the importance of EU Voluntary Review as well as national reviews, a call on the Commission to establish a permanent platform for NGOs to exchange on SDGs as well as the importance of the EU's leading role in this process.
The report will prepare the ground for the Parliament's delegation to the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on SDGs in July 2023.
